I remember the day when we picked Bailey out from her littermates, she had a small white heart shape on her back towards her rump. It set her apart and let us know that she was a special girl. A warm hearted, faithful, loving member of our family. From the time she was a pup, she loved to spoon with one of us at night and her favorite way to sleep was to crawl way down by our feet and sleep under the covers! She hated when we were out and she let us know by grabbing a loaf of bread and dragging it out into the living room. Sometimes she would eat part of it, but mostly she just left it the middle of the floor, untouched. She loved to carry her food dish around and circle and circle until she found the right spot to lay and eat it. Her cousin Charlie and her would switch bowls on a daily basis, one would eat the canned dog food off the top of the other’s and it became a game to them. At promptly 4:00 p.m. they would both sit and stair and me until I got up to put their food in their dishes! She loved our whole family, kids and grandkids, but she became especially close to her dad. She would follow him around from the minute he came home from work. They were best buds. Sharing snacks and working in the yard. Going downstairs and laying under his chair to watch football. What a special bond they had. We enjoyed Bailey for 13 years. She met 4 of our grandchildren and lived until shortly after our 5th grandson was born. We think she hung on for us so that we could take the joy with the sorrow of having to say goodbye to her. She fought cancer bravely for 8 weeks that we know of until her body was giving out. We lost our other dog Lacey 2 1/2 weeks before from cancer as well. Needless to say it has been an extremely hard couple months for us. We love our dogs because they give us unconditional love and companionship. They certainly touched our lives and were always there through the good times and the bad. We will miss you Bailey for a long time. Love you so much girl.
